Alana Florence

Alana Florence is exploring how Kinetic Textiles can be part of an interactive environment. Her illustrative patterns and creature-like kinetic sculptures are full of character we can empathise with and re-tell the way we experience architecture. Her ideas are for kinetic architectural spaces that celebrate the environment and elicit delight in its users.

Alessia Giardino

Alessia Giardino is a designer from Italy who believes the essence of design is in the intellectual and pragmatic quality of the idea. Her most recent project is a narrative of the surface of architecture over time. Using innovative paints that “eat” pollution, and layers that wear away, she shows how appearance can be affected and manipulated by pollution, environment and use.

Clover Robin

Clover Robin is a surface pattern designer with a keen interest in sensory, familiar and innovative design. She pushes materials and their capabilities to often surprising places while nodding to traditional and historical design. Telling us stories about the past and our memories as well as challenging 'the norm' allows for innovative and exciting design outcomes.

Emmie Joseph

Emmie Joseph believes in designing for a sustainable future. She has invented a double-layered blind that uses shadow to create playful, intangible, ever-changing decoration. Illustrative shadow casters can be pulled from storage in a storybook to redecorate the blind at a whim without any waste. She also writes and illustrates oddly tragic short stories which feed into her work with shadow and light.

Gemmie Payton

Gemmie Payton illustrates surreal, humourous illustrated stories and prints that are aimed at adults but can equally be enjoyed by children. Stories about cats that would kill for a button, or a mashed potato dog/mountain that is eaten away by humanity without consideration. Her drawings and stories bring charm, joy and unobtrusive thoughtfulness.

Samantha Warren

Samantha Warren tells a story inspired by the quote “there’s
still life in this old dog,.” Her printed metal work is paradoxically both beautiful and unwanted. Beautiful because of the elegant prints, but unwanted because of the surface’s decomposed appearance. The weather narrates her metal printing process by oxidizing unprotected areas. This unique technique of Samantha’s has attracted members of the press and many other associates within the design community.
